It’s weird the visceral reaction people have to anti-war pics on this site, and yet the G5 movie has a blatant anti-war message.

Like, it’s OK if Hasbro delivers an anti-war message, but as soon as a derpibooru artist delivers an anti-war message, we lose our shit.

It’s heavily implied that the new movie takes place a long, long time… More than likely a thousand years, given the advances in technology we’ve seen.

Correct, the same is true for all civilizations throughout human history. It’s cyclical, nations and empires will rise, fall, repeat.

Not a shock. It’s been hundreds if not thousands of years. What’s a good comparison to Equestria? Rome. Rome was once a great empire, it lasted a really long time, it did many good things, created many good things, did a lot of bad things for sure, but still no denying it was a formidable empire….where is that today? Oh yeah, it’s gone their is nothing left but ruins. It was replaced with multiple nations with their own governments, their own cultures, their own religions, ext. Equestria was never going to last.

To those who think Celestia, Luna or Discord would have stopped it…who’s to say they didn’t try? I’m sure Rome tried to stop it’s downfall and the invading nomadic forces, but they eventually fell, nothing lasts forever, the USA may fall one day as well, maybe divided, who knows.

The point is Friendship is like a monotheistic religion that unites various nations, it did for Europe.

The works of Greece and Rome are not forgotten we still study them, admire them, and learn from them. That’s the point! Had Sunny’s father never had ancient works, he and Sunny both would have been racists caught up in the propaganda.

That’s the point of Gen 5. Not bringing back a dead empire

I heard a theory that spoke about that there was a world war between all the species and that possibly they have become extinct or simply their number was reduced.
The ponies also seem to be on the verge of extinction, because it seems that there are only 3 cities where ponies live, I heard that the earth ponies and unicorn are the smallest groups.
But I think that the smallest groups are the unicorns, but even so, it can be seen that the Pegasi are much more than the other races.

We will have to wait to see what will happen later.

What confused me more is the absence of other creatures. Where are the dragons, the changelings, the gryphons, all of them. Are they on another part of the land or did they get Manifest Destiny’d

With the reveal that the movie was finalized in 2017 before season 8 and 9 were written, and before season 9 went through 3 drastic rewrites, and going into it with that in mind, the movie makes a lot more sense and leaves a lot open.

Later in EQG a whole ass portal was opened on an island. It created a storm that knocked out cell phone service, essentially creating its own pocket dimension. Magic was leaking from the statue like crazy

I’m stating fact. The EQG world was used as a prison to neutralize threats too powerful to combat, thanks to it’s lack of magic and the portal reforming species into a “harmless-by-comparison” body. Obscene steps had to be taken through the first two movies to even get SMALL amounts of magic into the world.
 
The dimension seems to have duplicates of the living beings, but by the basic laws of the universe, would not have duplicates of the mystical artifacts since there was no magic until very recently.
 
The image of the memory stone is a nod to say that one of the recovered things Sunny’s father found acknowledges that EQG exists/existed and wasn’t completely forgotten in the timespan gap, in something of an ironic twist.
