Umm… MLP’s original formula is also about money. FIM in its essence is still a commercial promoting toylines. Hasbro has always only cared about money. They’re a big corporation, and big corporations only care about profit.

I think exactly the same as you, and it’s sad, because I literally spent all the time since G5 was announced excited, counting the days and looking forward to the news, almost as if it were a new episode of the series. But I also see a wasted opportunity, when there was talent, and plenty. You can’t expand a fantasy universe like this so much, and then shrink it and resize it to the scale of two towns and a city and put such a ridiculous and one-dimensional villain. And less being everything so mediocre and as you say similar to our reality. I have seen the full spoiler of the film and I am sorry to say that everything seems mediocrity to me, it has no soul, it does not feel MLP. I have a deja vu with Disney’s cancer sequels …

Transformers has its own problems with Hasbro as well (Transformers Animated Season 4, Transformers Prime Season 4, the Netflix War for Cybertron trilogy, etc.)

Most likely cause they`re trying to put more of their money on the Transformers film franchise
 
(Mainly saying this cause they used non union actors a few times in both franchises, Hello Pinkie Pie for MLP, and the Netflix War for Cybertron cartoon for Transformers)

It was not difficult to finish the G4 well and make a new generation even better. There were plenty of screenwriters, talented writers, and artists to remake the world of Equestria more and better, but the result is soulless mediocrity. That’s the impression I got from seeing the spoiler for the book, with bland locations, just meh characters, and a lazy plot.
 
I imagine that people will continue in the G4 fandom creating content, but this generation gives me the impression that it is going to crash, it has nothing going for it.
