Having to rely on outright negating his magic(like Chrysalis happening to have a anti-magic throne so she doesn’t instantly lose) doesn’t really fix the problem. Like kind of feels like cheating.
If they had his magic beaten due to using a weakness that balances out his OP chaos magic without relying on “I automatically win because friendship” rainbows or outright anti-magic, that would work.

As for the mind control, watch as apparently being a reality-warper makes him immune.
Given how apparently it makes him impervious to harm since he wasn’t injured(as in he faked being hurt) when he got hit by Sombra’s attack.

Would have been great if Balor instead of having cancel magic powers, she/he/they (because i don’t have any idea about the gender of Balor) had super speed everytime magic is close of their area. Just imagine Discord fighting aganist a creature he can’t ever seen or react at time because it’s faster than the thinking.

I’ve really been into the idea of a villain or villains using anti-magic/resistant armor to fight Discord in Twilight/Tirek type battles. This also can be how certain characters can fight Twilight, Starlight, or any of the high tiers themselves without automatically being as strong as they are.

It’s disappointing we don’t get many actual decisive fights
Everyone just tries NEGATE magic all together, use mind control, or hold others hostage. No one wants ever wants to get their hooves dirty

Well, half of the knights actually can fight aganist Discord, Balor with her/his cancel powers, Morrigan with her mind control and Ceridwen maybe can defeat Discord with her matter control if she’s enought smart.

Anyway, the knights are also elements of harmony, so… Discord can have troubles with the Knights, so, he can be there without making troubles in the story.

Its really bad the sisters aren’t going to be in the battle though.
This is the last main comics and yet doing sisters so dirty like in the show finale is really going to add salt to the wounds.

It makes more sense for the comics to be alternate continuality.
Since comics that weren’t “contradicted” yet has a nasty habit of referring to comics that got contradicted.
Its easier to just say they are alternate continuality.

As for the mistake, it was a mistake to introduce a reality-warper that is Discord without balancing his powers(since reality-warpers can screw up the story badly and the threats of villains).
And its a mistake to have these powerful beings(Luna and Celestia) be massive failures. Its easy to have the threats be were the sisters can fight alongside the Mane 6 to stop said threat.

To be honest, I’m kinda glad the Princesses (and Discord I guess) are staying out of this.
 
I wanna see the mane 6 (mostly Twilight) learn to deal with serious threats who are actually out for blood, which we haven’t really seen since Twilight’s Kingdom and the Ending of the End. And the last thing I want is for Starlight to come in and steal the show
 
I’m also curious to see how the mane 6 get around the Knight’s seemingly overpowered abilities, and whether the Elements will play a role in story leading to a climatic showdown
 
As long as we get an ending that FEELS like the mane 6 actually worked for their fruits (unlike Siege of the Crystal Empire, where Sombra literally wins but just gives up because sad) and the Knights don’t try an ass pull and take hostages like a bitches, I’ll be satisfied.

With discord there is actually a explanation tho, hes like Q and stays out of conflict because if he did everything the mane 6 wouldn’t have the confidence to do it themselves. The princesses well u see uh yeah…

The curious thing about all this knights thing is that at least 3 of their members (Ceridwen with her matter control, Morrigan with her mind control and Balor with her/his cancel magic trick) actually have chances to defeat Discord, the other half is a joke to him, but we don’t see Discord in the rest of #101.

The thing is many stuff fro the comics got contradicted by actual events or even by context.
 
Yes, the show has the nasty habit of messing up continuality but it wasn’t bad as the comic’s case since the show is primary canon while the comics are essentially “secondary” canon
 
 
Also, the sisters could easily save the day ALONGSIDE the Mane 6(rather than just be easily taken out and the Mane 6 have to pick up the slack). Just gotta handle the villains in some way.  
As for Discord, just freaking explore the weaknesses of his chaos magic to balance it out(OP characters are fun to watch but reality-warpers that can easily end the villain’s threat with a literal snap of fingers is the kind of OP that is bad).

My point being that these comics were always meant to be a “companion piece” to promote and tie-in the G4 franchise. Once G5 starts in September, these comics will end, because there will no longer be a G4 franchise to promote.

Just because Andy drew two Reflections arc related pieces or Jeremy basing modern Abyssinians to ancient Baast? Yeah, no. Andy even said it himself: “The comics are canon to the show unless contradicted by the show”.
 
Also, even if not for immortality, they could easily solve it like Discord can. So if anything, the Princesses and Discord are a mistake.
