I recently learned that even though their brains are small, their neurons are ALSO small so there is actually a lot more going on in a bird’s brain than one might initially think. Intellect per neuron would be a more useful measurement, though even this runs into trouble when you consider there are also different ways for a brain to be laid out too (the octopus brain is especially baffling to try to think about as it is spread through their entire body).
In terms of intellect per brain size, most birds punch well above their weight. Ostriches, however, fully earn the reputation of “bird brain”. I’ll leave it up to your headcanon as to where you place Silverstream.
