Spike is happy, because he’s free of the franchise…for now, at least until G6 comes around. But for now, he’s just happy he’s not in the franchise’s future. I mean what point would he serve? If they want comic relief they can make new characters or have Hitch be the buttmonkey, which he sorta seems to be right now.
The story is about Earth Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns who are now divided into three kingdoms, unicorns have lost their magic, Pegasi have lost their ability to fly and Earth Ponies have lost their strength. Other nations have broken ties with them. What point would Soike serve I get the point in G4, but that was “Ancient Equestria” which no longer exists, the Mame 6 are myths. It makes more sense to just move on. Spikes happy because he gets a rest.

Okay, maybe not so dramatic as that, but I think the longer the series lasts, the more likely it is Spike will make an appearance.
