Scrapjack is, at heart, an unyielding force of chaos who wants nothing more than to watch the world burn beneath her feet. That’s what it deserves. That’s what they all deserve.
 

 
Something of a character study for my favorite halfogriff, plus an excuse for me to explore her background and motivations in the description aslkdajfsfadg
 
 
Strudel was raised by a sweet young baker who loved their little featherball with all their heart. They taught her quite a bit about baking, and even more about hating the royal guard. In the current state of Canterlot, with a tyrannical ruler that’s basically just a puppet to the rich bastards in charge, the guards are… pretty much allowed to do whatever they want. They steal, embezzle, intimidate, take property for fun, and kill anyone who dares to look at them the wrong way. Strudel’s caretaker, like most lower-class citizens of Canterlot, despised them. As did their sister, a carpenter who worked a few houses down the road from the bakery. Strudel loved her aunt almost as much as her pap, and spent many days helping her in the workshop.
 
 
Even though she was a bit of an outcast due to her species, Strudel always stayed positive and tried to make the best of her and her parent’s humble living. She developed quite a talent for making them laugh, even when they seemed down. At school she was very much a class clown, making a ruckus during lessons and diverting all attention to herself whenever she could. If you asked her, she would tell you that she just likes making folks laugh. In reality, it probably goes deeper than that—she knows they’re all living in less-than-ideal situations, and there’s too many kids who have already given up on their education by the time they get to fifth grade. She may as well try to be a little spark of light in their otherwise disheartening world. When they first met, Strudel saw Suki as a challenge—a stoic, grumpy yak who never spoke and never smiled. If she could get her to laugh at a joke, that would be her greatest achievement. Getting to know Suki was the best choice she ever made.
 
 
One day, Strudel—fourteen at the time—made a visit to her aunt’s house and found a royal guard storming out of it, laughing and reloading her crossbow. When Strudel entered the house, she found her aunt lying on the floor with an arrow through her neck. She’d always known that the guard were bad, but that moment was the final straw. None of them cared about the lives of the creatures in her neighborhood. They would just as happily watch them all die and stop straining the welfare system. That guard had probably demanded that Strudel’s aunt give up some of her inventory for free, and upon her refusal, the guard had gotten pissed and just… killed her. The entire Canterlot government was careless at best and intentionally malicious at worst. It needed to be toppled.
 
 
To her surprise, Suki was more than willing to drop everything and join her on her quest to, in her words “Fuck with the royal guard as much as they possibly could until they eventually got killed for it.” Strudel suggested they change their names, and after a long night of pitching suggestions at each other, they settled on Scrapjack and Rotgut.
 

 
 
In summary, Scrapjack got tired of everyone she cared about being treated like dog shit by the royal guard/the Canterlot government in general and decided to become an anarchist. Good for her! Good for her.
 
 
She does most definitely need therapy and a nap though. Poor girl’s been through it. But hey, at least I didn’t go full Jeff Overwatch and slice half her limbs off. Yet.
