the way I see it, the person who wrote this shoved themselves into a corner with the Spike raping Applebloom scene. Instead of culling that scene and doing a rewrite, the writer just went ahead with the original idea and had it added to the comic.
 
Now, without the writer knowing how to write themselves out of the rapey corner, the story has resorted to really detached hand-waving and contradictions. I wouldn’t be surprised if AB is suddenly best friends with Spike after a worthless apology.

Yeah, its like a bad fanfic where the author cant has the events he want to use in mind but doesn’t have the ability to fit them well within the story.

I keep trying to follow the logic of this comic, but each page is just more removed from reality than the last. Just read how Spike repeatedly cheating on Twilight is trivialized to “the most you did was probably make them nervous”.
