I’m pretty sure that as long as they regularly wash properly they should be fine.
 
I would not be surprised if their common shampoos and suchlike contained anti-tick/flea properties too though.

No, crab lice require the sort of hair they normally live in; that’s why they are notoriously found in that sort of hair and not on other parts of the body. Horses don’t have hairy crotches, and can’t harbor crabs. (Gorillas have adequate hair all over, and our crabs are normal head and body lice to them. Our head lice are chimp lice.)
