I think the bronies who are mad about smartphones only feel that way because they’re so socially inept in real life that no one would actually WANT to talk to them. So they feel insecure when they see one in their pony show.

Anyone who’s somehow mad about there being a smartphone in a setting that literally takes place FAR in the future of G4 (which HAD some modern technology) is just an irrational sperg who’s mad over nothing.

I’m sick of the “purist” label. What’s purist about having a different opinion? The G4 and the G5 are two different things, so it is normal that as there are people who like them both, there are others who like only one of them.  
I don’t see why to make all this drama.  
The really sad thing is that people in this fandom have completely forgotten about love and tolerance…

I think for them about the fan art why they not mad at it because it isn’t canon to the show, is just a fan art a fanon.  
Also they need to be adapt to this new situation, because some of them been in g4 for almost l0 years with 2D animation now it’s 3D.
 
Take it like you lived in your home country since you we’re born, 30 years later you have to move to another country where everything is new, like culture. Just give them time, they will accept it.

The difference is that those are one off that are separate from the setting. Even stuff like the bowling alley. 90%+ of the show is a medieval setting, with most of the exception with rarity in manehatten or one off events.  
There weren’t cars, only pony pulling stuff around. You didn’t see episode about urban life per se, or about television. It was in the background, but really not proheminent as to be shocking (and still rarity takes manehatten put a bad taste on many’s mouth back then by showing how prevalent the modern tech was in the overall setting)

Kind of sad to see so many here fall for corperate bullshit and slurp up everything hasbros throws out because it as a mlp logo on it.

I think the issue about the phone isn’t the level of technology like pointed below, its more what level of presence it’ll have in the show.
 
Pony life gave us a taste and it was bad. Episodes about which app to have on the phone and which to delete, Fluttershy making an unboxing video, twilight just browisng wikipedia for research, them watching shows on youtube, and multiple episodes about how to become internet stars.
 
It was already a thing on EQG too but at least there was enough plot around, but now I fear how much prevalence it will have in this. I don’t mind them in the background, but it might bring too much teenage drama.
 
Regarding the sisters, regardless of design, I think this is obvious this is the Tomboy/Girly siblings that is so prevalent, ala Frozen. Either zipp is the protective big sister or the anti royalty I wanna be free Dash, while Pipp will be either the energetic one ala ponk or the royal one ala rarity.

Funny how the one thing bronies are terrified of is the very thing they use on a daily basis. Also really funny how they flip their shit over a character using a phone in their “fantasy setting” yet that same fantasy setting had arcade cabinets, neon billboards and signs, and a fucking Dubstep machine, speakers, a d headphones. But a phone is just too much to handle.  
Also aren’t there pieces of fanart of ponies using everyday technology? And nobody bats an eye to that? How is it that the fandom gets a free pass yet when its official its seen as a crime against bronykind? Pretty hypocritical if you think about it.
