It’s because they look like actual toys. The weird felt texture they used for the fur is very much like the old felt used on pony toys in the 80s and 90s. The nose kinda feeds into that. Just little dimples rather than actual holes going into the toy.

Interesting choice by Hasbro imo, but not terrible.
