We’re on the same wavelength here And it’s extra gut churning to follow MLP because on top of that, we have to deal with the channers and their usual tactics of “psyops” and pushing buttons about the actual political climate (especially given the synopsis) . Sure, other fandoms have to deal with them but MLP is on that special position where channers think the franchise belong to them because they indeed gave the show a big publicity push in 2011

That piss me off to no end. For all we know, we could be belly aching and bickering over incorrect assumptions. I miss the 90s,say what you want but just patiently waiting for show to air and being kept in the dark had its perk

The thing is, the interview speaks in a corporate/business context and not in a narriative sense. None of the people who speak in the interview are writers, but VP’s and heads of this and this department bla bla you get the point. It is about the brand of MLP, not necessarily the G5 show.

The problem with blanket opinions is that for them to be true, they would have to be true for all of those included in an opinion like ‘everycreature is a racist.’ And given that we’re dealing with thinking sapient beings, all of whom would have varying life experiences and philosophies, it would literally be impossible for such an opinion to be true, let alone true all of the time.

But, again, there is no word wether it being set in “G4 Equestria” is even relevant outside of a few refrences to it. I mean, FIM had a gag about G3 ponies.

Magic becoming more widely available caused massive societal disturbance, causing damage to infrastructure (and followed by loss of technology). Three tribes stayed separated, each blaming the others for the disaster… until a couple of alicorn mutants came along.

Isn’t there also no more magic? That would be a good way to kick off the plot on its own. But I mean…I think there’s a lot of stories to be written where the conflict isn’t either a generic doomsday villain or racism/specism/tribalism. But honestly, if they just set it in a new continuity instead of completely wrecking the G4 canon I’d be fine with it, interested even. I’m still interested but it sucks, a lot, that everything Twilight and her friends did was all for nothing and everything is worse off than it started.

I hope they have a damn good explanation of how everything went to shit other than just “Equestria was once great but everything went wrong” with no context.
