dunno if that makes much sense at least in regards to how the world seems… it’s not bad enough for three evil tyrants to be in control. its sort of a lukewarm amount of bad
I actually think the Legion of Doom was the reason, why G5 world is the way it is. I think Twilight tried to reform them, but they already dethroned her, when she was freeing them.
Perhaps thats the reason that chrysalis and co got turned to stone?
To be the big bads in G5 that made everyone hate each other again and again and again……

But more extreme it seems. I would like to see what a pegasus or earth pony only kingdom would be like. Would their even be a head Princess anymore over all Equestria or everything be seperated like the real world?
It’s like the Windigos were checks and balances against hatred. That would be an interesting idea, sometimes going with an ambitious, seemingly brilliant idea can have its own consequences like the coming of the Industrial Age or Chernobyl’s reactor design. This could be a good flaw of Princess Twilight without making outright jerkish.
Discord figured out the world need evil and night in order for day and good to exist. So after Fluttershy died he caused chaos and mistrust all around the world and turned himself to stone.
So, we are going full “Batman Beyond”/“Legend of Korra” and have the hero of the original retire, or worse, DIE, just because her achivements in the original timeline were undone.
Imagine a new movie called “Shrek: The Next Generation”, where the fairy tale characters are at war with each other, Far Far Far Away and the Swamp Kingdom have a strict anti-ogre policy, and Shrek and Fiona and Donkey and Puss in Boots are nowhere to be seen.
As a random thought - while the movie may focused on reuniting the pony tribes after the Big Split (TM), it would be expected that this would have also forced the other species (yaks, griffons, etc.) away as well, something that they could then spend time in the followup TV series, with Sunny and friends working to try to bring back those ties with the other species.
If the movie made a nod to that facet, that would be cool to set up for later world building.
(And I’m still crossing fingers that this is all predicated on events set about by Tirek/Cryssy/Cozy getting loose, succeeding, and though ultimately defeated, the discord between species and pony tribes remains.)
