While some aspects could use some work I dig it, it certainly has potential. The names or nicknames are not particularly stand out ones but we really don’t have a lot of details so it might turn out better.

Those tv commercials marketing budget not-mlp pony related merch hoping dumb kids and uninterested parents wouldn’t notice the difference between them and hasbro’s stuff as long as they slapped the word pony on their toys.

Sunny may be short for Sunny Daze (Hasbro renewed its trademark in 2019) and Izzy may be short for either Whizzer, Dizzy Lizzy or another name (haven’t checked the trademarks on the two names yet). I do remember one of the leaked emails from December 2017 saying that the main characters could have nicknames.

The only one that is really out of the ordinary is Izzy. Sunny is at least part of ponies names since at least G1 and Pipp is part of a name from G4, Pipsqueak, and of LittlePip from Fallout Equestria one of the biggest fan creations in the whole of G4. While Izzy is somewhat out of the ordinary its not that out there.

Intriguing. I can’t say I completely love the style, but there is something appealing about it.

While normally I do agree with this, in this case it’s warranted.  
These names just do not fit a show about Magical Ponies.  
They are far too human in nature.

Seriously, those names would have been bottom-of-the-barrel even in G1.

 
Funnily enough, the main characters for G5 were foreshadowed before.

Didn’t take long for porn artists to hop on this one.  
That said, I’m skeptical but optimistic about this new gen. Will it be as great as FiM? Maybe, but it’ll have a lot of ground to cover and hearing about staff “activists” really doesn’t help.
