Lol I was kind of joking. But who knows?
I would think that lava immunity would be an anatomical trait for dragons, rather than a magical ability. It seems logical to me that it would be because their dragon scales are formed of a material that’s impervious to heat, otherwise they’d also be at risk from their own fire on a regular basis wouldn’t they? :)
Ocellus better be careful then.

I mean they could possibly give themselves gills since the hippogriffs seem to work the same way. Changelings can probably change their cells and DNA to make their disguises more convincing (Ocellus seems to be actually as heavy as a rock when she turns into one) so gills are also possible. The only thing they can’t copy would be abilities. They obviously can’t use unicorn magic and breath fire like dragons. The only question is whether lava immunity is a magical ability or an anatomical trait for dragons.

Up to debate. The fact that they can swim better when they turn to sea creatures may just be because sea creature bodies are shaped better for swimming. Also, it only happened for a few seconds so we don’t even know if she could breath underwater too. Also, Ocellus never breathed fire when transformed into a dragon. So there’s no way to tell to what extent a changeling can transform, whether it’s only appearance/shape or more.

I think it’s just a fire theme.
Also, they may be somewhere searing hot, but Smolder looks cool as ice in that flame pattern suit and shades.
