One thing that’s puzzled me about the N64 controller: the left side has 4 buttons, while the right side has 6. Yet, from what I understand, the controller was supposed to be designed so that left-handers could get just as much use on one side as right-handers on the other. If that were the case, shouldn’t there be just as many buttons on the one side as on the other?

I still love those N64 controllers, and I laugh whenever I see Youtubers, and younger gamers becoming totally confused on how to hold them, and such. Some say they suck, but honestly the button layouts and button sizes were more comfortable then some modern ones to me. (And I liked having a choice between the D-pad and analogue stick, over having both cramped together on one side.)

Kinda a shame all controllers basically look like 4-button PS1 dual shock, or X-Box controllers now. I kinda miss the 6 button N64 one, but I guess most games don’t need that many buttons.
