I’ve been a lifelong Nintendo fan. Wii was fun for about 6 months and then I got sick of the motion controls. WiiU did nothing to impress me and it continues to fail at that.
 
My next-gen console of choice will be Steam Box.

Unless you’re only putting in the bare minimum parts in, you’ll still be able to play new games at gradually reduced settings for years. You can play Borderlands 2 on a computer running Windows XP, which was released over a DECADE ago.
 
And unlike consoles, you almost never have to worry about backwards compatibility unless you’re trying to play some seriously ancient shit, and even then you can still run it on stuff like DOSbox.

For the same price as buying one, I can upgrade my computer for better results AND use it for stuff besides playing games. I can even plug in a controller and play it like a console in those rare situations where a mouse and keyboard isn’t superior.
 
The only advantage consoles have over PCs is local multiplayer.

first game: generic FPS  
second game: realistic race game, not fan of those  
third game: ??????????  
fourth game: WTF is this? a FF with real guns?

Given Sony’s history, part of me will not be surprised if the final version of that new Killzone game doesn’t look as good as the demo.

New Zealand isn’t part of europe; and unlike europe, our wages are on average a third less than wages in america.
 
Due to the Strong NZ dollar, the game companies charging $100 for videogames has become somewhat egregious, i.e.
 
Why the hell do I have to pay a third more for videogames even though I come from a country that’s a third less wealthy?
 
Thus, this is the reason I am a primarily PC gamer (I also own a 360 and PS3), since prices are usually fairer.

Nintendo did the same thing, focusing on the WiiU’s controller and not actually showing the console. Thing is, WiiU is shit.

What annoys me is that even though they showed everything a game conference should have, which was games, features and pricing, people are retarded enough to whine about not seeing the console.
 
WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THE CONSOLE IF YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT CAN DO AND WHAT IT’S GOING TO GET! We saw the games, we saw the specs and features, who needs to look at the piece of shit console design.

Exactly. But this is still great because we got to see what the software looks like when it’s running on the new system. And ultimately, isn’t that what this all comes down to? Isn’t the point of video games is being able to just play them?

Y’know… You might be on to something there. Internet may not be inherently bad, but if there’s one negative thing it’s done for sure, it’s ruin everybody’s ability to be patient. No wait, that’s just instant-gratification consumerism culture.

People will never be satisfied. They demoed game there in showroom floor rather then show nothing but video footage, that too me is what matters. I wanted to see price more then what a console looks like.
