Yeah I really like that a lot, and if the MLP ponies were real they would absolutely make special accomodations for fliers. If ~1/3rd of your population is able to fly, why WOULDN’T you design spaces off the ground? Of course you would, it saves space and therefore saves money and hassle.
 
Plus I bet Pegasi naturally LIKE sleeping off the ground, and I think ponies are noticeably more social than humans are so they kinda enjoy slightly crammed communal living like this because they like being surrounded by other people in close proximity.
 
Some places would probably have benches attached to the sides of buildings. Places like stadiums would have seats mounted above the normal seats you can only fly to. More of their houses would have doors on floors other than the ground floor in case a Pegasus wants to fly to the 3rd floor directly. Stuff like that.

Travelers crossing paths in a beautiful picturesque setting. Makes you wonder what their lives are like and why they’re travelling.

Yes, author just didn’t draw it.  

It’s not apparent how you get up to that bunk, but I’m told there’s an unobtrusive step or handle of some sort on those trains.

Sleeping on a train is the strangest feeling. You feel like you’re rocking for hours after you wake up

Upper right place is my favourite, lower is when I feel like rich. :D

I’ve ridden on first class rail, and I can tell you there’s no more comfy way to travel than via sleeper car.
