What part of “Rusty hurt Lullaby” did Fireweed did not understand that his sister, Thistle try to explained to him unless the Thunderstone clouded his judgement as well as easily believe his cousin’s words which half of it is true about his encounter with Tempest but the rest prior to that was all a lie.

I can sympathizes with Fireweed. His father was killed by Tempest. Sure she didn’t deliberately killed him, but back then Commander Tempest probably didn’t lose any sleep about it. Losing a Loved One is horrible. Having him murdered is even worse. And Tempest walked away as free mare after the invasion because she said she was sorry. That would make a lot of victims angry. Then your own sisters, decides to not only don’t help you bring the killer to justice but also sleeps with her. From his POV he has all reasons to be angry. The fact that he didn’t try to harm Lullaby or hold her hostage – unlike a certain brown Pegasus – also makes it lot easier to like him.
 
Yet he failed to or refuse to realize about his cousins abusive twisted nature (that Winter Rye try to keep in check before his death) when Fireweed sent him to retrieve the letter from Thistle about how to defeat and kill Tempest but Rusty remove the minor information that Thistle also wrote down about that Tempest is good now, let her live and deserves redemption from her letter, foal napping Lullaby and blackmailing Thistle to poison Tempest or Lullaby pays the price which that was not part of Fireweed’s plan for revenge.

Oh Fireweed, you should realize what really happen instead of believing what yer cousin said what he saw from his twisted point of view and that the three lumberjacks were misguided jerks who falsely immediately suspect yer sister and Lullaby were in league with the so called “evil” Tempest Shadow and yer sister try to reason with them that Tempest is not that pony anymore and tell them to stop and go away.
 
Tempest only attack them cause they attack first cause they stupidly believe she doesn’t have her storm army or her special weapons on her and at the same time upset the poor little filly.

If only Fireweed knew what really happen that his own cousin Rusty had his own twisted agenda of wanting to get revenge on Tempest for the death of Winter Rye by putting Lullaby and his sister in danger for the sake of revenge and Tempest attacking Rusty was justified.

For example why Tempest was beating the ever living shit out of Rust!
