Mulberry decides to curl up in a bundle of blankets and read the book with the info on all the runes. Not much else she can do after all.
She finds a treatise on an interesting spell. The head scholars of Birdsong College were tasked with creating a sort of scrying spell, apparently to keep the other younger scholars from taking their secrets with them and running. To do so, they enchanted small objects like buttons and coinage with the “Fame”, “Bounty”, and “Object” runes. Using an empowered object that has the same runes plus a “Call” rune let’s you actual identify the location of the other objects. Normally, the head scholars used necklaces for this purpose. The book even has a proposal from one scholar to another that part of the initiation into the Birdsong should be to implant a small bead under the skin so they can always track their students.
Apparently adding the empowering “Big” runes to it just increases the distance and ease of tracking them and was not commonly used because of the magical energy required.
