As someone who has read this fanfic, I can say that it is definitely worth a read. Not really cringy at all, at least not in my opinion.

The part that most people care about is the justification/tragic backstory. She was created by a ritual some cultists cast trying to resurrect Nightmare Moon from the scraps of her armor after the M6 cleansed Luna.
 
So most people that like her do so because “omg cool story so edgy!”

Fairly generic. She’s kinda/sorta “protector” guy. The story spends more time contradicting itself and making everyone fall for her “I’m a cute filly” appearance to really get into a personality.
 
The story almost does some interesting things, but then throws those out the window.
 
But because Pen Stroke got in very early, people give her a pass. People hadn’t yet gotten tired of Mary Sue OCs yet. And for some reason she has kept that pass.

OC made by Pen Stroke in one of the classic fanfics from the early days of the fandom. She’s a black alicorn OC but apparently that’s ok because unlike all the other Mary Sue alicorn OCs, this one has glasses. And hairband.
