Honestly, one of the greatest pieces of advice I got from someone whilst at uni was to collect colour palette swatches that I like. That’s where I start when it comes to oc pony colours. I’m also a big sucker for autumn colour themes, such as this. It was one similar to this that helped with choosing the initial colours for Bubble Pump in her bus driver uniform:
I think part of Bob’s appeal is that he takes generic OCs and makes them visually interesting without resorting to a palette straight from Willy Wonka’s nightmares. He uses browns and greys and manages to make them fit in just fine and look nice in a world of candy-color ponies.

Maybe, but then again ponies aren’t supposed to talk or have heavuly stylized manes so I personally don’t mind.
