Normalization has nothing to do with looking good, it has to do with it being a normal thing to see. Something that’s become ‘average’ or ‘commonplace’ to a point that nobody would bat an eye. A person can be wearing a really ugly shirt, or a really ugly skirt, but that doesn’t overrule the fact that wearing a shirt or a skirt is still entirely normal and commonplace. People can have ugly beards, beards are still normal. People can have ugly clothes, clothes are still normal. People can have ugly opinions, opinions are still normal.
