I agree that the negativity is unfounded, but I suspect that it is manly due to the overall mannerisms of his character that gives him the appearance of someone who acts cool and confident (without being ether) in a vain attempt to attract sexual attention from females.
 
I’m giving this guy the benefit of the doubt because he hasn’t done anything wrong, and Celestia does seem to trust him.

I don’t see what everyones problem is with this guy. Despite his unique manorisms he did nothing wrong and doesn’t seem that bad of a guy. I mean, he never once insulted anyone or anything like that.
