Description

“Friendship and flowers and ponies and… Bleh! I’m so totally over the cute pony thing.”

The Storm King, my most favorite My Little Pony villain to date! :D (Big Grin) Clap He is evil! He is powerful! He is… hilarious! Laugh Since I finally saw him in the movie, he became the king of My Little Pony villains on my list. He may not have been everybody’s favorite villain (and believe me, I know why. I wish he had more screen-time; even Shere Khan had more time in Walt Disney’s “The Jungle Book.”) But this bad boy is still the best in my book. And here is why:

  1. He is awesome-looking. Although some say he is a satyr, he is described as a beast in both the movie’s novelization and The Stormy Road to Canterlot, and judging by his anatomy, I agree (besides his horns are part of his crown; the comic confirmed it). He looks like he came out of a high fantasy roleplaying game, like Pathfinder or Dungeons & Dragons. Though he may even look like either one of Genghis Khan’s descendants cursed by a Tibetan enchantress or one of the rejected candidates auditioning for the role in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” I just love it!

  2. The Storm King’s personality is really something. His demeanor unpredictably shifts between pleasant and cheerful, sardonic and petulant, and cold and ruthless. He is comical like Hades, ebullient with a wicked type of flamboyantly, egotistical hamminess like Professor Ratigan, and eccentric yet evil like Percival McLeach. Despite his ferocious, high fantasy beast appearance, his comical side displaces it when needed. And it really displaced him from his more sinister former lieutenant, Tempest Shadow.

  3. One other reason I believe I like this terrible tyrant of the south, though this was fairly recent, is because of how he is represented. He and his forces are the polar opposite of the adorable, pastel-colored Ponies of Equestria. As mentioned before, they look like they came out of either Pathfinder or D&Ds. Instead of making friends, the Storm King is out for power and control, and he even insists that these are “the only things worth seeking.” An evil egoist, he believes that “every creature for themself” is the true law of the land. While it is how he see things in life, seeing as how the other creatures outside of Equestria were (and probably a few still are) also considered to be “unfriendly” and “selfish” (except the Hippogriffs), it is clear that he is one of the faces of the selfish, egoistic world outside of Equestria.

  4. He can also be the opposite of the Brony fandom and everything it stands for. He considers friendship a liability rather than the magic we all know and cherish. He even has a thing against “cuteness.” He claims to be the Storm King, but he’s probably more like the Hater King. ;)

  5. Then, there’s another reason I favor this villain: he has some traits that I share with, though one is perhaps the worst one. Besides shifting personalities and being funny, I can be quick to lose my temper when things don’t go my way. If I were to have a My Little Pony villain who would act as my Shadow Archetype (a character, most often a villain, who represents the dark side of a hero’s personality, a sort of evil reflection of the hero with similar personalities and goals; eg., Scar is Simba’s shadow and Chester V is Flint Lockwood’s.). Please don’t see less of me because of this flaw.

Definitely Best MLP Villain Ever! And if you don’t agree with me, I don’t mind.

I decided to make this without the Staff of Sacanas. Originally, I wasn’t going to make this full body, but after finding another screenshot reference, I decided to go for it. I’m not 100% certain if it’s all correct. And, this vector is technically ‘show-styled,’ which means no shading and highlighting.

Let’s bring on the storm! Wow, not bad. I wonder if he’s copywritten that?

UPDATE: I discovered that I got the color of his fur all wrong. Instead of 0, 0, 91, it’s actually 213, 5, 89. I hope you all don’t get a conniption fit. If you prefer the old color, then you don’t need to download this. Otherwise, I strongly recommend it.
I also made some other changes, such as his tail being in the more original shape and his toes being close to the original design as well. Not to mention the last edit made them look dainty
