As a fan of retro games, I’m quite impressed with what the NES could do with two buttons.
People say the original Super Mario Brothers looks primitive today, but it’s actually quite impressive how much control it gave you over Mario’s running speed, movement physics, & jumping height. The slightest tap of the D-Pad, or length of holding the buttons makes all the difference. Mario was certainly more advanced then “Pong.”

I know the feeling. There was someone wearing a shirt the other day that said “I am classically trained” and had a picture of the original NES controller on it. When I started laughing, I had to explain to a young cousin of mine what the joke was and described some of the features of the NES console. His response was, “What do you mean it only had two buttons? How could you play anything like that?”
Those of us who know what ‘blow in the cartridge, before you put it in’ truly means are becoming fewer and fewer.

Funny thing is, you can see the F connectors (coax cable) on the switch box. So either they’re hooked up to a really old TV, or she’s going out of her way to give him the full retro experience.
