The words died in her throat as she stared into the cool, distant eyes of a tiger. “Hello,” said the tiger.
“Would you get out of the way already?” the goat head next to her demanded, glaring daggers at the spa twins.
Silently, Aloe and Lotus stepped back. The chimera followed them in.
Aloe cleared her throat. “And, er, how may ve serve you fine ladies today?”
“My back is killing me,” snapped the goat head.
“We keep disagreeing about which way to go,” said the tiger head, her voice monotone. “Limestone is very forceful. But so are we.”
“…‘Ve’?” Aloe asked, before noticing the snake head peering out shyly from behind the chimera’s wide hips. “Ah. Yes. Perhaps some time in the steam room vill help to loosen your muscles before ve begin ze massage.”
The snake head hissed something softly.
“Pardon?” said Lotus.
Limestone rolled her eyes. “Oh, come on, Marble. There was a line, and we were first.”
“Actually,” said the tiger head, “They were here first, and you decided to cut in front of them.”
“Who’s side are you on, Maud?” Limestone snapped.
Maud looked at the spa workers. “Marble says that perhaps you should look at the customer outside while we’re in the steam room. They seem to be in an unpleasant situation.”
Aloe’s eyebrows rose. “You got all zat from one hiss?”
“Marble is very concise,” Maud replied.
