And you wouldn’t even know Dink the little Dinosaur is Hanna Barbara due to how it’s animated and the character designs.
 
And… I can safely say this teaser is not anything like the show we are getting.

I think that’s an unfair assertion, especially considering many Hanna Barbara shows that use simular styles are actually quite different. Nobody would say “Dexter’s Laboratory” is the same as “2 Stupid Dogs,” nor “Space Ghost,” and “Johnny Quest” are the same thing.
 
I even remember an old Tex Avery cartoon that had very cutesy Disney-esc characters, but it was NOT like Disney at all, and had much edgier humor, and pop-culture jokes from back then, which Disney didn’t do.
 
Similar art styles don’t equal the same show. I’ve seen TTG, and honestly P.L. is not TTG.

Thundercats Roar aside from the bean smiles looks far and away the ugliest of this recent trend of shows. PPG16 looked pretty bad too, especially if compared to previous incarnations.TTG,has never looked all that ugly. Just remarkably stupid.

In a similar manner. Most Hanna Barbara cartoons have the same “look” and just by the “look”, you have an idea of the quality of the program you’re going to watch, and nine times out of ten, you’re correct.
 
The same goes for the above; the style used in TTG, PPG reboot, and TCR. By seeing one, you have a good idea what the others are likely to be about.

Wanna know something ironic? Alot of those cartoons you guys label “CalArts” aren’t even made by “CalArts” students, not even TTG, or Roar are.  
And further irony… MLP:FIM’s creator Lauren Faust WAS from CalArts. So if you insist on hating everything “CalArts” you have to hate everything she worked on too, including the original PPG.
 
So honestly, the “CalArts” label is really innacurate, and ignorant, and just a label/meme John K. invented. (Y’know, the guy busted for being a pedo’ perv’?)

Apparently some people REALLY liked Thundercats Roar. I have no idea what exactly it is they liked,all I hear is I’m not allowed to say anything bad about it despite saying it’s bad is about the most positive thing I can say about it

It’s because the “thick line” design is also known as “cal arts”. Cal arts being a very overly simple design function. However, it also is an extremely evident earmark of cost-cutting. TTG wasn’t initially hated for the art style, but it made all the characters unlikable and contrary to their actual character. Make every episode boil down to a slew of random BS that is erased with a big rest button at the end of each episode and you make something very inferior to what we had beforehand.
 
The PPG reboot took this mess further, and Thundercats roar outright INSULTED it’s fanbase in a literal sense.
 
This is why when this art style is seen, all the warning flags go up and everyone goes “NO!” and instantly see it as a blight; because it’s from past experience.
 
Look, I like/love FIM, even with all it’s flaws. It has allowed me to become part of this wonderful community and has allowed me to bond with my mother in a way I didn’t think I could.
 
It’s why this scares me so badly.

“Animaniacs” is getting a reboot, so some are both excited, or scared of that.

I liked the TTG designs,but that’s about all I liked. There was a tie-in comic that I read before seeing the show. It wasn’t really my thing,but it was what I would expect from a comedic Teen Titans. Then I saw the show and they might as well have been a whole team of Freakazoids. Which I’m still bitter they haven’t brought back. You want a years old superhero for a nonsense comedy? He’s RIGHT THERE. Sorry for ranting😋

Yeah, if it’s comedy was better (like a few rare episodes and the movie) TTG wouldn’t be so bad. I doubt PL will be as mean-spirited, because let’s face it… It’s MLP.
 
Still, it’s not really the art style that’s the worst part of TTG. All things considered, it’s art is not bad, it looks like late ’90s, or early 2000s Cartoon Network shows that people love.  
Or even “Two Stupid Dogs/Secret Squirrel” which I loved as a kid. So that style is not just limited to digital, nor the modern era. I kinda understand people wanting other styles, but I kinda like seeing MLP in other styles.

people do seem to forget that teen Titans go was not hated just for being a comedy and as I mentioned before MLP was already a comedy this is going to be a more light-hearted one

Also, I don’t understand why everybody thinks every “thick line” cartoon is like TTG. They don’t even look like the ponies from TTG.

I just hope it’s not like Teen Titans GO! where all the characters were turned into complete assholes.

But you bring up another viable situation which is that Pony Life is “safe” for them. It’s low cost to make and will bank on higher returns to re establish some of that “cash”, whereas those star wars toys aren’t going anywhere as many people won’t even take them for free. It’s highly likely that Pony Life was made more expansive as they saw how star wars wasn’t selling and so G5 was pushed WAAAY back until they are in a more comfortable position, especially during the pandemic.
