Inspired by :iconstarryoak: and :iconfluffomaru:‘s takes on the concept, here’s a bunch of pairing babies I made for ships I’m not personally into! Because I’m me and can’t seem to make designs without putting WAY too much thought into it, I actually came up with a story and some personalities for each of them. Please note I’m using human years rather than horse years. Also, no Rarity bab because I couldn’t think of a ship for her I’m not fond of.

The basic concept was that the storyline of this ’verse would take place twenty years after the mysterious disappearance of the Mane Six, after being sent out on what should have been a very standard mission.

In order:

Apple Beignet. Applejack/Caramel mare, 24. The would-be leader of the group, Beignet is the third oldest, and only has vague memories of her mother, having only been 4 at the time of her disappearance. She is very much the doting mother type, showering her friends in free homecooked meals and trying to take care of their every little problem, to a point where she’s uncomfortable ever mentioning any of her own issues. Other ponies find her rather comforting, and she’d hate to drive ponies away with the many doubts and self-consciousnesses that plague her on a regular basis. Her cutie mark is an apple beignet coated in powdered sugar, and her talent is baking.

Bitty Bobbles. Ditzy Doo/Time Turner mare, 22. An inventor like her father, whose primary interest is in learning how to harness magic for non-unicorns. She invented a special set of gloves she wears at all times, imbued with magical gems that can cast basic levitation spells, allowing Bitty to carry things like a unicorn might. She and Beignet have unspoken crushes on each other, but each feels inadequate for some reason or another – Apple Beignet thinks she isn’t smart enough, and Bitty Bobbles thinks she’s too socially awkward – to confess it. Her cutie mark is two gears, and her special talent is invention.

Happy Daze. Pinkie Pie/Royal Pin stallion, 21. Daze was an infant when Pinkie vanished, and as such, has no memory of her. But he constantly HEARS about her reputation as Ponyville’s source of laughter and entertainment, which makes him feel like he has to live up to it. The only problem? He’s not funny. No matter what he tries, he can’t manage much more than a pity laugh or a confused chuckle at best, and outright anger or offense at worst. He’s not TRYING to hurt feelings, and genuinely just wants to make people happy, but his terrible delivery and penchant for saying the most awkward, uncomfortable things at the weirdest times has branded him as something of a weirdo that generally makes other ponies uneasy. His talent is currently undiscovered, because every time he feels it coming on, he fights against it or rejects it, because it’s related to the most boring, unamusing thing ever: taxes.

Cygni and Deneb. Twilight Sparkle/Timber Spruce identical twin mares, 20. Cygni wears a green bandanna and Deneb wears a red one. The twins had only recently been born when Twilight vanished, and they have no memories of her. They felt obligated to take on what they saw as her most important duty, which was protecting Equestria from forces that might harm it, and wound up reinstating the monster fighting organization BonBon formerly worked with. Their magic works in tandem with each other, and each finds themselves weakened if they’re too far apart for too long. Timber Spruce – the pony version of him, anyhow – is rather concerned with their apparent lack of interest in forming relationships outside of their bond with each other and has TRIED to push them to making friends, but to no avail. He’s backed off in recent years, fearing if he insists too strongly he’ll lose them as well. Deneb has a bit of a crush on Happy Daze, but refuses to act on it for fear of weakening her connection with her sister. Their cutie marks are a pair of shooting stars, and their special talent is their duo spellcasting.

Jupiter Apple. Fluttershy/Big Macintosh stallion, 26. The second oldest, he has some vague memories of Fluttershy and her unfaltering kindness. Jupiter is always the one giving motivational speeches in his friend group, a seemingly unshakable optimist in even the most grim situations. He’s been dating Spectral Lights for several years now, and the two are engaged. But every time the wedding date draws near, he pushes it back because of some sign – an animal that hasn’t come out of the woods in ages suddenly emerges or Angel Bunny’s progeny suddenly won’t stop sitting in Fluttershy’s favorite chair – that Fluttershy is coming back. He wants very much for his mother to be present, and has never given up on the idea Fluttershy is alive and well. His cutie mark is a large, shiny apple and his special talent is his endurant nature as well as the ability to cultivate apples from even the toughest conditions.

Spectral Lights. Rainbow Dash/Soarin mare, 28. The oldest of the group, and the one who remembers the mane six the most clearly. Her relationship with her mother was terribly strained by the fact that RD wanted a competitive flier for a daughter and that just wasn’t who Spectral Lights was. She enjoyed flying, but failed to push herself and almost wound up flunking out of flight school several times. Her initial reaction to the disappearance of her mother was relief that she’d no longer be pressured to fly, and she’s quite lived down the guilt she feels about that fact. She loves Jupiter dearly, and is only genuinely emotional with him. With everyone else, she comes across as cool and aloof, unbothered by most everything and grimly accepting of the fact life sucks, then you die. Her cutie mark is a rainbow being formed from a prism.
