I can see maybe the sisters would factor in on Twilight doing something else for the Trio.  
When they realized there could have been another way(and also realizing Discord shouldn’t have been allowed to decide the trio’s fates like that).

I keep imagining Luna is going to take it worse due to her past and the fact its ultimately Discord’s fault the trio ended up being worse.

I don’t know if Discord would have second thoughts about this, but it would be nice to think that the Princesses would.

Not in the least. I’ve regretted what happened to her ever since the finale, and I hope they bring her back in some capacity when the Season 10 comics resume again.
