I think the major problem is that it’s being perpetuated by various sources, because it’s useful. If you’ll notice the worst places this is happening, it is by majority in major Democrat controlled areas. It’s not that I think most Democrat politicians are specifically looking to keep black people down or cause racial issues because they don’t like black people; I think they’re manipulating things to retain the power they have. It’s all in the pursuit of power. Now obviously this isn’t just a Democrat problem: the Republican party did this same shit in general back in the mid 1900s, when they did have legitimate white supremacists in it. But that was decades ago. The modern Republican party today is a much different animal than what it used to be. It’s got problems, but I think it’s become the better of the two parties, which is why I’ve switched from Democrats to Republicans. Hell, the first presidential vote I ever cast was for Obama. And now, the second one I’m going to cast is for Trump.

The other major problem is the media. Clicks, likes, shares, views, ratings. Racial divide makes them money, they’ve got no reason NOT to promote it. It’s always the biggest scandal they chase after. Russiagate, Ukraingate, Ferguson, BLM, Covid, George Floyd. Every day it’s the end of Western civilization if you listen to them. Again, this is mostly on the left; CNN and MSNBC are literal trash. But Fox and other conservative outlets are not free from criticism.

It honestly pisses me off that all the gains we’ve been making are being destroyed. Maybe it’s just me, but I remember the 90s being the best time for race relations in the US. Sure it wasn’t perfect, but it seemed like the worst was far behind us.

You have a point. People, no matter who they are, can be proud, stubborn, and unwilling to admit the error of their ways. I don’t care who (re)started the break in race relations if neither side can cool it. I wouldn’t mind too much if the only solution to this whole mess were to make us all the same.

They did have a better choice. Race relations were on the up and up throughout the 1900s.

I’m sorry to say it, but I’m going to trust Thomas Sowell’s research and conclusions on the issue over your opinions. Until you can effectively dismantle a good number of the points that Mr. Sowell puts forth, then I’ll have no reason to change my opinion.

If you haven’t read his work, I suggest starting with Black Rednecks and White Liberals, and move on to Wealth, Poverty and Politics. Basic Economics wouldn’t hurt either.

White people are almost twice as likely to be shot by police than black people in the US. Gang lifestyle is praised and sought after among inner city young blacks, and part of gang culture is crime and conflict with police.

Maybe black communities should take the words of Thomas Sowell to heart and work on their own culture if they want to fix the problems.
Mr._me

The old version was way better, and it’s sad that it’s gone.

That house comic isn’t an argument here. It’s just silly.

The concept “All lives matter.*” encompasses the concept “Black lives matter.*” and more. The fact that some people want to remove the more, could say a few different things about them. Such as they are not principle driven.
