World building is an important aspect of many series. Otherwise simply focusing on one set area comes off as too limiting.
 
Besides, interpersonal relationships are not just limited to the main cast. Various other characters that were separate species were also included. Once again, it makes more sense to explore their Homeland as well.
 
Stop pretending that just because you hate the concept of world-building means that it’s automatically terrible for everything in the series.

The show never had to do any worldbuilding to be good.
 
The show is about INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS between the main cast. It’s not a show about visiting every country just so that wiki editors could have a field day.

There are various other species out there who Equestria has extended the hoof of friendship to, so it only makes sense to do some world-building and explore their Homelands instead if keeping things limited to only Equestria.

Actually World building would be perfect considering the fact that there are still many species that have yet to have their homelands explored, everyone’s been waiting for the zebra Homeland to be shown for the longest time now.

So she has territorial ambitions - “friendship conquest” in other words. Not one, but four expeditions are sent to spread the message of friendship from Equestria to the rest of the world - and in other dimensions, too. Instead of swords and spears in the past, she will expand into unfamiliar areas with the word of friendship and the ideology of Equestria with which she had been raised.
 
She wants to create an empire, and as we know from the last episode of FiM Season 9, she succeeds in her advances as Canterlot had become a big city populated with different beings in addition to the ponies. She clearly did not rest on the laurels after becoming the reigning princess (perhaps queen since Celestia and Luna have just become unofficial princesses like alicorns) in Equestria. It will mean that she and her friends will face new problems, new enemies - and that their biggest enemies in the end will not be on the outside, but on the inside of Equestria.
 
For we should not forget the thracians in Filika which are within the borders of Equestria - and do not think they are alone. If the writers fit in well with their work, they can create a new world without taking the same track as Archie Comics`s Sonic in 1990-2010.
 
It’s twenty years to the end, and they’ve only just begun.
