Description

Last but not least, my thrid entry for BubaIuv ‘s DTA: a character study colored sketchdump

1 - As previously mentioned before, Rosie is really good with kids, and is a volunteer at the Day Care division of ponyville’s school districts. She’s beloved by all of the little ones, but these three never seem to leave her side when she’s around, and have seem to grown on her and become her personal favourites~

(I initially had intended to simply use random adopted designs I had to fill the spaces, but I ended up gettin attached to the kiddos and coming up with with a little info on them)

The pale unicorn is Platinum, he’s well manered, prim and proper, spoiled and a huge mamas boy. He dislikes physical activity and overall sweating and getting dirty, he’d rather stay inside instead of playing outside with the other kids, likes to claim he’s more mature than the rest of ponies his age and kinda forces etiquette on himself. Rosie wants him to act more like a kid, be less harsh on himself and enjoy his life a little more.

The earth pony filly is Rowdy Rodeo, bold, brash and isn’t afraid to get her hooves dirty. She’s loud and her personality clashes with Platinum a lot. Ro is the kinda kid who likes running and playing in the mud, and likely leaves a bug on Platinum’s lunchbox if he’s beeing a prissy. Her family thinks she should behave a little more and be more feminine, but Ro doesn’t really care. She might be a bit too much to other fillies sometimes and might have punched a kid in the face once or twice for making fun of her. Rosie tries to help her express her feelings better in other ways than physically.

And last but not least, the little pegasus is Overcast. They’re non-binary (tho are a bit self-conscious about their gender identity). Cassie is shy, quiet and polite, they’re the most level-headed of the trio and tries to get Platinum and Rowdy to get along, most of the time. They’re very kind and very rarely speak up to voice their own needs and concerns. Rosie tries to encourage them to be more confident

all the kiddos’s original designs were adopted from kittystar614

2 - “Cherilee: Hey sweetie! How did you know the little kids would cooperate and pay attention if I changed the approach for class, dear?

Rosemary: I just thought the class was boring, so I thought it would be more fun that way. No big deal~”

  • As I previously said, Rosie has a very naive and childish mindset, so most of the reason she gets along really well with children is because she thinks the same way as they do. She’s also got that raw, pure and straight forward honesty children usually have.

3 - Wind Sprint and and Rosie are complete polar opposites (even their manes are kinda inversed lol). Rosie is talkative, friendly, energetic, while Wind is a bit more down to earth, quiet, serious and likes her personal space. Rosie is a social butterfly but Wind is not really that comunicative. She preffers to stay home reading or go to the gym alone than practice with the dumbass jocks at school.

  • Wind thinks her half-sister is annoying, intrusive, too much “all over the place”, and lacks a sense of personal space, which Wind would appreciate a lot if she could have hers back.

  • Wind probably doesn’t know but Rosie considers her her safe person. Rosie trusts and loves her big sister endlessly and she would be the first one Rosie would call if she was in a bad situation. Wind Sprint thinks she’s mostly troublesome, but deep down we all know she cares.

    4 - “Windiee”

    “what”

    “Windieeeee”

    “what”

    “Windieeeeeeee~”

    “WHAT DO YOU WANT?”

    “I love you tehee~”

Wind has frequently come to pick Rosie up from parties and carefully carried her home (read carefully as wouldn’t really have minded if she had fell from her back and hit her head, I mean, she would have deserved it). There you have one very unamused Wind Sprint carrying one very drunk Rosie home.

She’ll keep an eye on her when she’s had too much alchohol, and then put her to sleep. Wind might not admit it but she’s actually overprotective of her sister. She’ll sometimes stay awake a little longer after she falls asleep to check her heartbeat or if she’s even breathing. Probably some sort of leftover trauma after her dad passed away, she’s afraid of loosing her loved ones, even if she’s too stubborn to admit she loves them.

Clear and Cheerilee don’t really know of all the stuff Rosie does behind the curtains, Wind is the only one who knows. Wind gets mad at her sister for being reckless and doing stupidities but deep down she doesn’t feel like she’s that close to her to have a right on saying how she should live her life.

As for the reason why Cheerilee and Clear Skies both don’t know of her daughter’s misdeeds.

Cheerilee and Clear skies both give a lot of freedom to their children, they both understand teenagers need space, and they also want them to learn with their own mistakes and all
And since they have Wind Sprint who rarely ever leaves the house for anything besides training and refuses to interact in a friendly way with others and just overall doesn’t socialize much, they’re probably really happy Rosie is a social butterfly, and goes out a lot. They just don’t seem know how bad Rosie’s mistakes are, and it’s truly debatable whether she’s learning something with them or not. But in the end she seems like such a pure and innocent angel that they’d never even consider.

5 - “Do you have something to do with my sister?”

Every now and then there will be one of Rosie’s exes that will be too prideful and butthurt about being dumped that they’ll come back chasing after her, probably not with the best intentions. Whenever that happens, Wind Sprint is likely to step up for her sister and protect her. Most of the time she’s able to scare them off, but there might have been that one time where she had to kick their ass.

    Ok maybe it was two.

And that guy there is just a rando I colored in like less than 5 minutes lol

6 - We’ve seen equestria as a magical land full of exotic flora with magical properties, often used for medication and potion brewing.

But do you know what equestria is also full of? Stupid teenagers who enjoy using the magical and hallucinogenous properties of these plants for their own enterntainment and fun.

There is a very broad range of side effects of both consuming or smoking these substances. Most of them are harmless or simply just downright futile, but plants with stronger magical properties might cause more potent reaction, as well as permanent sequels to the user. Careless manipulation of poison joke for example may result in the permanence of the body modifications it’s known for.

Most of the common herbs that are used for this sort of amusement are usually harmless and have close to zero long term side effects. But there is always one or two curious insolent fools that will recklessly adventure themselves on the depths of the everfree forest and find something they shouldn’t.

Hopefully what Rosie usually ventures herself in is mostly harmless.

7 - Another relationship I thought I’d include would be Rosie and her half-brother Berry. Berry was the result of an oopsie night back in the love potion accident between Cheerilee and Big Mac, but they both chose to raise the baby happily. Even tho they’re both moved on from the situation and married their respective spouses, Berry maintains a very good relationship with his parents, as well as with his eventual step-siblings. Rosie will occasionally drop by at the farm to spend the day with her big brother (might not seem like it because both have a smaller and petite build, but there’s about a 10+ yrs age gap between them).

Berry’s personality is really passive and as much as he might have trouble expressing it with words he loves his sister deeply, and might spoil her a little by baking her favourite treats when she visits and doing whatever she wants to do around the farm or listening to her endless blabbering about her day to day life. Every now and then there’ll be a week or as least a couple of days Cheerilee won’t be able to come see him due to work, but even so Rosie visits him regardless, so it makes him really happy, tho he admits her sister Wind Sprint kinda scares him a lot.

8 - Rosie’s naive nature and immature and impulsive behaviour not only makes her very bad at handling her own romantic relationships, it also often leads to involving herself with bad guys who take advantage of her naivety to manipulate her. Her relationships have ended badly more times that she’d like to be able to count. She doesn’t usually get back with her exes, but often falls for the same kind of guy.

9 - Rosie suffers from anxiety, and sudden shifts on her self esteem. Most of the irresponsible choices she makes are somewhat coping mechanisms, or at least a way to escape and forget about her insecurities about herself and her own future. Her mother is the school principal and has been a hardworking and exemplary teacher her whole life. Her mom is a kind and humble mare that devotes herself to her family and helping others, Wind Sprint is a super talented athlete that is likely to achieve a successful career in hoofball… But what does she have?

It’s likely that Rosie thinks she’s simply dumb and good for nothing, and wouldn’t be able to study and become “someone” in life because she isn’t smart enough. She’s not particularly talented in anything. She probably thinks her way in life would be marrying a nice guy and life off his job and money and eventually give him kids and become a stay at home wife (specially since she’s good with kids, even tho she deeply fears having one herself). Deep down she knows somehow this fate would make her unhappy, still her insecurities make her believe that. She’s too unsure about the future so she keeps her mind occupied with the present: parties, drinking, sex and even drugs. She’s just a naive desperate child making very bad life choices.

I’d like to ask for a minute of silence in respect of my hand, my back and my sleeping schedule that have been reduced to dust after the past 5 days :’ D

I’m super glad this is finally finished. I’ve grown to like this design a lot (I’ve been drawing it so much you can even notice how it has changed ever since the first time I drew her (the DTA ref) to the study sketches lol It feels like all this sketching as also very good practice.

Anyway, thank you Buba for the change <3 I am very hopeful for this design <3

To be honest I had originally intended to depict the family picture as a sketch (since it technically is one) and post it along the other ones, and make a background picture as my third entry. But it ended up feeling like it would be more like a waste of time to make a background picture simply because it was a “complete” picture, when it would probably have no real contribution to the construction of her character, so I spent my time (talk about time) working on there ones instead~ I hope it will pay off :‘D

Gosh if I end up winning this I might consider posting the sketches individually, there are some that I loved sO MUCH but had to make them like half the size so they’d all fit in a single picture
