Giant Twilight #41

I doubt even Twilight is 100% sure how arcane energy behaves within the event horizon of a black hole. Looks like she’s about to find out, though. MAGIC SCIENCE!

They are probably just going to be edited. I know they could have just left the old images up and then asked for a merge but some artists don’t seem to realize we have that here on Derpibooru for updates.

Seems reasonable for a rough estimation I would say.

Then again… I just remembered. We could actually compare sizes right here.

We know that that is a suepermassive black hole as stated in the description of page 36 and considering that Twilight knew of it’s position at the top of her head I assume it may be the suepermassive black hole at the center of their galaxy which I assume would make it comparable to Sagittarus A. Sagittarus A have a Schwarzschild radius of 0.08 AU and what do we currently have left of this black hole? The Schwarzschild! And luckily we even have a pane where Twilight puts her head right next to it, making comparing the two rather easy. So let’s do this.

At full resolution the Schwarzschild of the black hole measures exactly 14.5 cm on my screen whilst Twilight’s head measures about 11 cm so her head is 0.7586206897 times the size of the black hole’s Schwarzschild. Now, like I said the Schwarzschild radius of Sagittarus A is 0.08 AU which means it’s diameter would be 0.16 AU or 23,935,691.68 km. Assuming this black hole have the same Schwarzschild radius as Sagittarus A it would mean that Twilight’s head have a diameter of 18,158,111 km right now.

So, uh, no. I guess your estimation for her total size to be 0.208931 ly or 1,976,639,900,000 km wasn’t that reasonable at all apparently. Sorry.

Alright, that’s something I can work with. I’m just throwing some wild assumptions out here, so don’t take it 100% for granted. And I assure by glaxy you mean our milky way.

The largest known single star in our milky way is “VY Canis Majoris” whose radius is about 1,420 times that of the Sun (R☉). So that would be 695,700 kilometres x 1420 = 986,900,000‬km (~613,231,230‬‬mi). Doubling the numbers giving it a diameter of 1,973,800,000‬km (1,226,462,459‬‬mi). That’s about 0,00020893l ly in diameter.

To make it seem like a tiny speck compared to Twilight, I just assure Twi is about 1000 times bigger then this.
So 0.208931 ly in diameter. Compared to the estimated maximum diameter of 200,000 ly for the milky way still makes her really tiny.

But yeah, just wild guessing and hope my calculations are correct.

@Setsugekka
It’s hard to get a reference shot when she’s this size. Most objects in space would just be tiny specks next to her and the next thing bigger than her would be the entire galaxy which she’s still too small to be compared to (at least for now).
