I’m down for shitting on S9 as much as anypony else here. However, the show simply could not have sustained itself for 9 seasons without adding some form of continuity. At some point, Rainbow Dash’s quest to join the Wonderbolts either needs to resolve. It doesn’t matter if she joins them (setting up future arcs of career advancement or disillusionments) or decides to be an independent stunt mare. However, prolonging these arcs causes the audience to lose emotional investment with the character. If we’ve seen Dash try out and idolize the ‘Bolts for seven seasons yet never make any progress toward admission or accepting that she’s not a fit for them, there is no reason to care during the next Wonderbolts-themed episode. Characters suddenly achieving their dreams in the series finale is not emotionally satisfying because it feels unearned: the writers made the universe turn out that way because the show was ending.

If you want a turning point in the show, Twilicorn is the point where the writers began to make episodes that required knowledge of previous episodes to understand the story properly. Luckily for you, they spent most of S4 having Twilight point out that she was just as confused about her new princess duties as the writing staff. Not only was there a song about it, but there was also an episode where Twilight reassures the CMC that she’s not changing just because she can fly now.

Best Night Ever is one of my favorite finales because it’s much more in line with the rest of the show. The escalating power level of two-part villains drove emotional disengagement in the story because you knew there’d be a friendship laser in the end. At least the finales for Seasons 5–7 all involved offering forgiveness to the villain to varying levels of success.

You don’t need “growth potential” and “character arcs” - and especially not the macabre parodies that masquerade as these in FiM.

The entire first two seasons of the show, which catapulted it to success and after which its Golden Age swiftly ended, had next to zero of either and many of the more bitter fans think Best Night Ever, the only finale that is not serious drama, and a story in which nobody learns anything and is generally at their contemporary worst, is the best finale. Angsty soap operas and pretentious literary conceits were not what the show was about, and it wouldn’t have been so bad if the writers were good at it, but they never were and that’s the hell of it.

Season 5 (lampooned here) was the worst season because it most openly embraced this new and crappy half of the show while constantly snubbing the other and original half: actually being charming, comical, endearing, or basically thoughtful. Seasons 6-9 continue to suffer from its precedents and the growing trend of misplaced “adult feels” nonsense, but show an effort to return actual color and whimsy to the character interactions. Season 9 in particular has a few episodes that would be right at home in S1 or S2, but there is no escaping the antlion pit the show fell into, and it is also heavily criticized for the allegedly planned Scooby Doo twist that robbed us of a good villain and gave us the Three Stooges instead, the outright admission of Twilight Sparkle that she is not Twilight Sparkle anymore, and the completely unnecessary, dumb-as-hell Mobius 25 Years Later epilogue that adds absolutely nothing to the show.

The show had to shift focus at some point. The core characters tapped out their realistic growth potential and character arcs way too early (because no one expected that the ride would last this long).

Go ahead. Make my day.
You can add season 6 7 8 and 9 to the list as well as to how hasbro treated it’s core characters after the fourth season so I guess you could say that hasbro would be the user of this bathroom.

Also speaking as someone who has worked in septic system clean up it is far better to throw your used toilet paper in the trash then to flush it down the toilet I seriously cannot even begin to tell you how bad flushing your toilet paper is for your septic tank and plumbing especially with the more thick toilet paper because over time it will cause the tank to expand which will eventually cause a leak and even worse toilet paper build up if not cleaned properly or very often will completely destroy the tank costing you upwards of 10,000 dollars to replace the tank.
