Description
Twilight Sparkle had started the night with high hopes. After all, it wasn’t every day that she got to hang out with Timber Spruce. He lived so far out of town having to help out with his family’s camping ground. So Twilight was determined to make the best out of every one of his visits.
Their time at the museum was supposed to be perfect. Perusing the exhibit on gravitational fields. Marveling at the vastness of the universe during the planetarium show. And enjoying cups of hot cocoa and casual conversation as they spot constellations in the night sky.
And yet, for one reason or another, almost nothing went according to plan. From getting lost while looking for the exhibit, to finding out all the shows were canceled that day. Even drinking hot cocoa proved to be a problem. Twilight had mindlessly chugged down about half a dozen cups, while Timber ended up burning his tongue on the piping-hot drink.
And as if that wasn’t enough to ruin the whole night, the night sky had become far too overcast for them to even spot a single star. Now tired from such a disappointing night, the two of them sadly sat at the top of the main stairs.
Twilight tried to shift and adjust her 200-pound body, but she simply couldn’t get any more comfortable. Now even more frustrated, she simply sighed to herself as her mind now began to fixate on her fattening figure. Her fleshy thighs spreading under her weight, her bloated belly jutting out over her lap, and her chubby jowls hanging from her saddened face. It was all a striking reminder of how much and how fast she’s been gaining.
“I was really hoping to impress you,” Twilight pouted, too upset to even look at him.
“Tell me about it,” Timber chuckled timidly, rubbing the back of his head. “Now how am I supposed to impress you by pointing out the constellations of Equuleus, Pegasus, and Cassiopeia.”
Suddenly perking up, Twilight’s eyes sparkled as she turned towards Timber. “You know where those are?”
“Uh…” Timber began to explain, trying his best not to stammer his words. “I may have done a little astronomy studying in preparation for tonight.” Looking back at Twilight to see a witty smirk on her face, he quickly corrected himself. “Okay, a lot of studying.”
Their small talk, however, was immediately cut short as dozens upon dozens of fireflies flew out from Twilight’s backpack. Remembering how she questioned the jar of bugs Fluttershy had given her, Twilight was now left speechless as she leaned back and watched the night finally begin to glow.
She then looked towards Timber who was just as stunned by the wondrous sight as she was. But then as he turned to look at her, they locked eyes for a moment before bashfully looking away.
Wishing for this moment to last, Twilight placed her hand down. Timber did the same.

“So you still think I’m b-beautiful? Even though I put on all this weight?”
Spruce blinked at the question before he reached back and scratched the back of his neck. “Well,” and here he paused to gather his thoughts, he knew Twilight would ask this question eventually, heck, with how large her friends had gotten it was only a matter of time until she asked, ”well, yes, I do think you’re still beautiful. Yes you’ve gotten a little, er, chubby, but it looks good on you.”
Twilight considered his answer for a moment before she looked away almost in embarrassment. “But what if I get bigger? You’ve seen the others, and I don’t just mean the girls, most of the students at Canterlot High are at least two hundred pounds!”
Spruce frowned a little at this as he straightened, “Then you’d still be beautiful to me. You could be the size of Rarity and I’d still love you…” and here Timber paused as his blush began to spread.
Twilight’s own blush grew at this confession before she scooted closer to her boyfriend and wrapped his arm around her. “…thank you Timber…I…I love you too.” And with that she leaned forward and placed a small kiss on his cheek before resting her head on his shoulder.
Spruce smiled as he placed his head on hers while his other hand reached out and took her hand in his. And finally the happy couple fell silent as they shared another tender moment together.
“This was a nice date Twilight” Spruce said as he and his girlfriend sat on the steps of the Planetarium. The chubby nerd smiled a little as she slowly lowered herself onto the steps, “Oof, I know right?! Who knew a whole wing about asteroids could be so…”
“Astroid-inary?” Timber said throwing the girl a sly, sideways glance.
Twilight, fighting down a giggle, puffed her cheeks at this and gently slapped her boyfriend’s arm, “Now you stop that.”
“Yes dear”, Timber replied, as he leaned forward and placed a small kiss on her forehead.
The duo then fell into a comfortable silence as a large number of fireflies gathered around them.
Twilight’s smile grew a bit more as she observed the insects, “Did you know that a gathering of lighting bugs is called a light posse or sparkle?”
Timber’s own smile grew as well, “Well that makes sense,” and here he paused to gently reach out and cup his girlfriend’s face, “sparkles are really beautiful.”
The purple girl gasped a little at this before she leaned forward and kissed the green-haired man. For a several minutes the two simply sat and kissed, blocking out everything else around them. Finally the two broke apart, their faces flushed and decorated with wide and loving smiles. The two separated once more and leaned back, silently enjoying the kiss until Twilight placed a hand on her belly and smirked.
Let’s hope so.
