It’s honestly the most hilarious art-related accident I’ve had in a long while, especially considering how long it took me to realize there was even an aesthetic parallel with the dress color! This is what I get for not paying attention to much of pop culture, lmao :P

OH!! I didn’t even realize there was that much overlap with Frozen, lmao. Not big on Disney stuff, personally, so it completely slipped my mind in development as I’m not too familiar with it.
 
I got the idea for ice magic from Flurry’s own name and the events of her Crystalling (though that blizzard had different circumstances), and the scene idea from what her future might be like as a possibly-immortal Alicorn Princess living in an Empire in the Frozen North. When designing the gown, I saw some Elsa costumes when searching for references, but chose different refs using formal gowns since at that point I did see the connection of an ice princess in a blue dress and wanted to make sure there was contrast between the two. I also tried other colors, but the baby blue complimented Flurry’s color scheme the best, imo.
 
I think there’s still a decent distinction between “I’m going off to express myself with magic because society shuns it and I’m an outcast for using it, so now I’m going to make a pretty castle for myself to live peacefully away from prejudice,” (which is what I do know about Frozen’s plot, from that one song) and “I’m going off to express myself with magic because, despite it being fully accepted within society, my current emotions are volatile and I need to get them out in safety before returning home to welcoming arms,” though in hindsight there are definitely similarities to be had, haha!
 
 
IDK, that was my thought process behind the piece, and now I’m laughing over not initially realizing there could be any overlap other than “ice princess in a blue dress” lmaooo. I still like this idea for Flurry, but should probably go actually watch the movie now just for that!
