Stop. Please.
Source for your assertion that it started from bat soup specifically?
Wuhan market. At this point I think you’re deliberately just trying to be right. I’m not even gonna keep this debate going because it seems to be going nowhere and neither of us agree with eachother.
There’s a 15-minute time limit to editing comments.
Links plz, my duderino – for all anyone knows, you might as well have mocked-up that unsourced screenshot in MS Paint.
Sigh…
Well, I found where that came from, and followed the trail to this Nature article which quotes one virologist saying the kind of recombination the findings by Wei et al. seem to suggest to have happened “takes a long time”, and another saying there’s “no evidence” that snakes can even be infected… while studying whether or not snakes can in fact be infected with corona.
The writers also add that “many researchers” doubt that the animal host/s can be identified without further study.
Make of all of that what you will.
Personally, I’ll stick to waiting for more information before drawing any hard conclusions.
I seem to be unable to edit my post so I’ll just do this.
With a quick search of my own, it seems that experts say that corona stemming from snakes is highly unlikely.
Aside from that, it began in Wuhan market. From… soup. Made of bats.
Edited because: Made it look a little better.
I mainly heard it from word. Though either way it doesn’t seem like it was far off anyway. You seemed to have gotten your sources via a quick googling, which ended up with generally a very similar answer to what I’ve said in the first place.
“It came from an animal.” Soup or not, it’s from an animal.
Well, if you want to convince people otherwise, cite your sources.
Okay man, if that’s what you wanna believe.
You know, you’d be more convincing if you cited your sources…
As it turns out, the bat soup connection was based on a completely unrelated video (shot in Palau in 2016) and the currently most likely origin was bats -> snakes -> people.

Journal of Medical Virology article
Yes, there has been outside confirmation. It started from soups made from bats.
Has there been outside confirmation?
‘Cause, y’know, totalitarian regimes aren’t exactly known for their honesty.
it be the case though.
I haven’t followed it very closely, either, but it’s supposedly tracked down to bat soup at a meat market in Wuhan.
I say supposedly because I don’t exactly trust Chinese authorities as a source of information.
Edited
I’ve barely been following the whole coronavirus thing at all, honestly. Doesn’t make a difference whether I read about it or not, I think.
Obviously.
