Again - good story, better than desired - in a front-on collision with the art of the artist. # 86 has become very similar to # 83 in that one has a pretty good story written by a skilled writer who knows his business - but of medium standard in the art of the artist. It looks like Sherron got the best scripts. Pencils could have done a lot of good work on this, anyone can - but here you have a comic where it is the story that is the patch.

Should it be so?

True. You can sue for pretty much anything though. Winning is another thing. IDW has so many lawyers/income while Pencils has nothing close. They’d get his case thrown out and he’d get a reputation for suing his employers making further work in that field even more difficult. Pencils is making the correct option by taking the high road, but it’s still awful seeing this done to him.

You act like a provocateur.

But my point is; Kate Sherron has nothing to do with the IDW, she is not motivated or skilled enough for the work she had been put into. There is too little evidence to suggest that she has the necessary willpower that a cartoonist needs to get far.

So; everyone can see it for themselves.

It’s more so that we get the idea already. Sherron doesn’t meet the quality standards IDW readers have for the art, set by better artists like Price and Fleecs by example. And with the Season 10 series coming out, which is more tied in with the show than the rest if the comic, more standards are set and Sherron doesn’t really meet that.

That could be said in just one to two sentences. We didn’t need countless long paragraphs venting on something we know for years of comics already.

To make it short; Hasbro can stop Season 10 and subsequent seasons if there is insufficient quality from motivated workers at the IDW. There are several great artists available, and most writers hold high standards that could be accepted. Then the IDW cannot pull in outside workers who just wanted to stick to their work without being motivated.

Anyone who looked at # 74, # 80 and # 83 could see that she is not well motivated, does not have a solid style of work, and puts in too little energy in contrast to most who often worked very hard. This is harmful in itself.

Don’t buy the issues make by Kate Sherron. I have looked at her work and there is something very wrong with it, especially with the ponies in MLP - it is much worse than usual. Many artists have tried the MLP comic for several years, but none of them have come as far down as her. It’s clear that she can’t draw as a regular cartoon artist. More like a comic artist.

74 was awful, where it was obvious that she has problems with four-legged cartoon characters. This got better with the Mane 6 in the # 80, but then you notice that she kept using the same drawing many times around. But this, which is considered a good sign, turned into disappointment with # 83 - the story is great, the action was very nice, here the writer Zahler and the editors had done a good job. But the art? Spike without wings. Visible evidence that the artist had put as little energy as possible into the work. It was a return to what was wrong with # 74. Rarely to see such a great abyss between the story and the art. Every artist has their own style, Sherron didn’t seem to have decided her style in her work.

Since the Season 10 is to start in the MLP comics, one cannot have such a low standard on the artists. Sherron probably in contrast to everyone else did not have a past as a volunteer draftsman of MLP ponies before she got the job because she just came right out of the blue. The IDW may not have done a quality check on her to see if she could fit into something that is obviously out of her league. Her website shows that she can’t possibly be very motivated for comics meant for children and teenagers.

Kate Sherron is too bad. Even in the Europe - the world of comics - she would not have come far by aiming too high and accepting work that is not suitable for her.

An idea for fans of Invader Zim and MLP is to block all purchases of issues made by Kate Sherron. It won’t be a loss as there are online issues, but it can give IDW a good idea that they should do something about an artist who can’t draw properly and who is not steady in her work as seen from # 80 to # 83 She is too high up in the hierarchy of the comic artists.

ANYONE is better than Sherron.
Background Pony #33FF
And everyone lose.

It is very obvious that Kate Sherron is not at the same level as most artists in IDW, her work in # 74 was not very inspiring, it improved in # 80 just a little, but # 83 is perhaps one of the biggest disasters in the IDW where the disparity between the story and the art is too great. Here, Sherron had lost what she had achieved and done worse work than with # 80 and # 74.

It is certain that # 84 would have been equally disappointing if she had continued where she joined in # 83. She cannot continue in IDW, it is better to transfer her to the children’s book section or comics for toddlers where she can make a better effort. In my home country, she would have been thrown out of the Pondus Prize, which crowns the best comic artists every year, since one has to know their limits.

Regardless, Kate Sherron should not continue when MLP enters Season 10.

Regardless of the behind the scenes BS, I feel like you still turned in a fantastic issue there. It’s nice to see the comic letting the student six stand solo, something the show itself could have benefited from.

Losing this issue hurt, but I don’t condone any drama around it. It is as it is and being a professional means sometimes you lose out on things you like to do. It likely was done so that Kate Sherron doesn’t need to scramble for odd jobs elsewhere as she is a house artist and a step higher than me in the ladder. I’m just a crummy freelancer so it’s a miracle at all that I was given any illusion of a choice in these matters to begin with.

I was promised another Marble Pie centric comic in the season 10 comics, so I might as well see if I can even manage to pitch in a script for it. Might get lucky and do full Marble, script and all. And Kate Sherron wasn’t slacking in the case of the student six issue, she got ill / sick and likely needed a few weeks to recover, this easily translates into half a book worth of pages so she dropped out from a paying gig likely begrudgingly.

I only hope this does not happen again, I busted my ass to make the student six issue early so I could get started on the pie sister issue. I’m just glad I didn’t go on my social media to hype that issue before I got to draw it. My reclusive nature spared people from a big disappointment.

In spite of the aforementioned controversy, I’m still looking forward to reading Marble Pie’s story in Issue #86.
