Yeah, I know. That said, what country did this comic take place in? Has it ever been pointed out, or heavily hinted enough for us to guess? All I’m sure of is that based on the scene when Celestia fired the beam at the sun it can’t be anywhere in Europe or Africa. America seems quite likely to me.
 
Unless of course Shieltar didn’t take that into account when drawing that page, in which case it would be anyone’s guess.

lobby groups in the USA might be able to wave money around and make laws happen. But it’s much harder to do in other democracies, which frown on the practice as being intrinsically undemocratic, and a blatant source of corruption. I’m not saying M.A.D. U hasn’t tried though.

Heh, it’s a good thing they do not live in the Netherlands, here the definition of a weapon is set so broad that even star trek phasers are already illegal, despite fact no one can make one (jet).
