An unusual storm system is approaching Equestria and Rainbow Dash was send out to investigate the matter. She has since been reported missing.

But Equestrian ponies’ guts cannot handle the weeds grown in the city, and when RD tries to go to the city park, or eat someone’s potted plants, vegetable gardens, or shrubs, she is always chased out by some angry official or resident. And one attempt on a Sonic Rainboom caused the animal control department to hunt her down, even to the next city where she is staying.
As she hides from animal control, now she feeds on scrap and garbage, avoiding the parks and shrubs where nasty humans would abuse or expose her.
I generally tend to lose weight on a ramen diet, even though I usually eat two packs at once and a couple hot dogs, so I really think that’s not the issue. I think the real issue is that most poor people are also bad at math, and consequently don’t realize that McDonald’s is much more expensive than groceries.

Bad nutrition tends to cause obesity in places where the problem is more about the nutritive value of the food than the quantity. Po’ Folk Food tends to be extremely high in starches and simple carbohydrates– rice, potatoes, cheap ramen, bread, etcetera– but short on protein, and the cheapest packaged food is often larded up with high fructose corn syrup and other hidden sugars. It’s entirely possible to be fat and still going hungry.
