Backstory/past: Wayfinder was born in the Crystal Empire when a pregnant Starlight Glimmer went to see Princess Twilight and her filly who were seeing Cadence at the time. However, everyone was quick to notice that Wayfinder was easily affected by the cold. Unusually so. So Starlight had to return back to Ponyville as soon as possible so Wayfinder wouldn’t get hurt or very ill since she was but a newborn. However, they were ambushed on the trip back to Ponyville and Wayfinder had been kidnapped right under Starlight’s nose. Though the kidnapper had lost Wayfinder in the woods. When Sunburst learned that Starlight had given birth but had been attacked and their daughter had been taken, he was mad. He and Starlight got into contact with Twilght and Cadence and told them about Wayfinder’s kidnapping and Cadence sent guards out to help find her. It was 4 days. 4 days of constant worry and horrible weather. And Starlight refused to cry, even when her husband Sunburst tried to comfort her and tell her it was okay to cry. They had finally found Wayfinder on the 5th day. It was storming and Wayfinder was sick and starving, huddled under a log that wasn’t even protecting her from the rain.
 
Starlight was quick to scoop her up into her arms, using a spell to surround the trio in a bubble to keep the rain out as she used another spell to dry Wayfinder off and clean her of mud. They didn’t waste time in bringing her back home.
 
As Wayfinder got older, Sunburst and Starlight noticed she was more wary of ponies with fur the same or nearly the same as the color white and that she sometimes had nightmares about being lost. She was always picked on at school for her “silly” fear of thunderstorms and she never explained why to the few curious ponies who asked. She also got her cutie mark much later than the normal fillies and colts. And even when she was older she was riddiculed as a Twilight 2.0 for always wanting to study and read, though she never told her parents any of this. She didn’t want to worry them.
 
Wayfinder, while growing up, always wanted to make her parents proud. Wanted them to be happy. So she pretended to have friends, that whenever she went out she was going over to a friends’ place. Though by the look Starlight sometimes had when she made the excuse, she didn’t believe her daughter. The one time she disappointed her parents was when she got into a fight with Wind Breaker.
 
As an adult and having moved out of her parents’ place, she was reluctantly walking through town when she bumped into a pegasus mare called Elmara Sentry, daughter of Flash Sentry who was captain of Twilight’s guard. The two hit it off quickly and became best friends. Though Wayfinder developed a crush on Elmara Sentry quickly.
