Description

‘Bus Driver Mare’ finally has a name - Bubble Pump. (With thanks to ArgentBanner!)

She also has a partner in crime - Clippy Ticket. He swears it’s a unisex name and blames poorly aged 1970s tv comedies for the stigma.

Still not quite sure on his colour palette, it might change.

I’m not getting the name thing.
Clippy Ticket? ‘70s sitcom? I don’t get it.

Very much a stab at the series ‘On The Buses’. Whilst the term ‘clippy’ is said to be a general nickname for a conductor, watching that series would lead you to believe it only applied to female conductors with incredibly short skirts and tight fitting jackets. On a whole though, that’s the least of the series worries in this day and age. Although I can accept it as different opinions of the times, the attitudes of the scripts really haven’t aged well.

Case in point: The series spawned three movies. The first of which revolves around the depo taking on female drivers, with the male drivers outraged (declaring women can’t do men’s jobs several times) and trying everything to get them fired, and they succeed! (Kind of)

It’s probably no suprise that it’s used in Social Studies classes as a prime example of sexism in media. By all means it does have some good comedy in it, occasionally, but it is somewhat marred by it’s attitudes.

Naturally, when you write a few comic ideas with bus ponies some people will automatically think of it.
