Maybe her parents are actually crapheads, and the side you see of them in the show isn't the only part. Why the heck does Rarity practically raise her little sister herself anyway? From what I can tell, her parents are either like Suburban upper-middle class people, or they're in retirement, but I'm leaning towards the former. Either way, they seem to be traveling and dumping Sweetie Belle at Rarity's place more than they're ever home. I don't see why_*they_* aren't interested in their kids' lives more.
Maybe I'm biased because I had terrible parents, but I despise bad parents. If you're gonna have children, you owe it to them to be there for them and do everything you can to help them be successful and happy.
