@Beau Skunky
That is kind what I meant by my end towards the stereotype of girls and not actual girls.
It can happen with some boys shows as well just trying to be gross
@northern haste
Yeah, if you can make something for girls, that also boys can enjoy, then you’ve succeeded at making a quality TV show/movie/game. Even the original ‘80s MLP had a few boy characters, as well as perilous situations, and nasty monsters/villains that anyone could enjoy.
In fact, some li’l girls dislike “only for girls” shows, especially sense they kinda talk down to them, or only cater to “girly-girls.”
@Beau Skunky
I might be wrong but I think the bad ones usually tend to target this stereotype of girls.
Also I feel that they really should not be making things only for girls.(not just games)
I believe movies like frozen and tangled were made for girls but not only for girls
@Depressed Snowman
They had some games aimed at li’l girls, but frankly many of them sucked. (I feel bad for girl gamers back then.)
The only good old “game for little girls” I can think of is Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” for NES. Helps it was made by Capcom, whom made almost all of the good old Disney games.
@Beau Skunky
if they didn’t have unique gameplay mechanics they would just feel like model swaps.
Although they could do what the Ghostbusters game did and how the player control a new character but I’m sure that would cause problems
@Beau Skunky
I’m guessing but maybe a reason it doesn’t happen is possibly because the gameloft game and other apps was way more profitable.
also whenever I think of again I do wonder how they would used to make mare 6’s personalities as gameplay mechanics some feel more harder than others
@northern haste
Yeah, I mentioned that below in the thread. Shame it never happened… Wayforward is great with licensed games. (Duck Tales Remastered, Contra 4, and Batman Brave & the Bold for Wii.
@DarkCarioca
The officially licensed AP Mobile games count as video games.
Though, there have been no official FIM games for any of the major consoles surprisingly, despite the show’s popularity with gamers.
To be fair there aren’t even official FiM games, are there? MLP’s never been one of Hasbro’s bigger properties, compared to the titans that are GI Joe and ESPECIALLY Transformers.
@Beau Skunky
With memory limitations in place, you could have that many though. palettes are very small in filesize compared to sprites. Also the mane 6 wouldnt exist, this is a G1 game remember? There was no real main set, they intentionally tried to us a whole bunch of characters, even when they all looked soo damn similar. Each toy needed a moment to shine and target a different type of person.
Although I think most of us preferred Wind Whistler anyway. Feels like the cartoon staff did.
Yeah, yeah. That’s why my female OC exists to prove them wrong.
G & PG along with E & E10 are mostly the same. The latters just have slightly more mature content but nothing too graphic. Even really young kids can jump into a PG movie or an E10 game with no problems.
And unfortunately, alot of companies like Hasbro (not demonizing ‘em, just saying they’re flawed) aren’t aware that girls like actual video games too, even “violent” ones.
And much like the G-rating becoming forgotten, and every kid/family movie being rated PG nowadays, you ever notice you hardly see the ESRB “E-Everybody” rating anymore, and almost everything is E-10 now?
Even “Disney Classics: Aladdin & Lion King” is rated E-10.
PG & E-10 basically don’t mean anything anymore, except as a publicity stunt to basically say, “Our movies/games can be enjoyed by older people too!”
@WyrmSpawN
Pfft. A lot of girls play the same kind of games boys play. They aren’t dumb. I don’t think parents would have to worry about their girls playing games whose ESRB ratings have Mild Cartoon Violence and Comic Mischief.
@Beau Skunky
I would be for that kind of game for an official MLP:FiM game.
@Red-Supernova @WyrmSpawN
Don’t even know if Wayforward even offered, or got in contact with Hasbro in the first place. All we know is a guy at Wayforward said they’re all huge fans of Lauren Faust, and would love to do a MLP:FIM game. That’s all the info’ we have on that.
Shame, as an action/puzzle combination sidescroller game, (maybe in a similar manner to their “Mighty Switch” games) would suit MLP, and girls (and guys) actually love puzzle solving, and such, so it’d appeal to both the target kid audience, and older one too.
@Tarkan809
Nintendo didn’t make those, they were made by a third-party company.
In fact, Nintendo themselves don’t usually make games based on, or licensed from another property, (Like a TV show, comic, ect.) aside from their 1982 Popeye arcade/NES game, a few Game & Watch games based on Mickey Mouse, or Snoopy, a “Hello Kitty” adaptation of the game “Balloon Kid,” and published a few Hamtaro games.
Years back, developer Wayforward (Makers of the Shantae series, Mighty Switch Force, Contra 4, Batman Brave and the Bold Wii, and the Ducktales Remastered remake) said they wanted to make a MLP:FIM game, (which would’ve been great as they make great licensed games) but unfortunately that never happened.
Yeah, some boy shows fail, because of that too.
That is kind what I meant by my end towards the stereotype of girls and not actual girls.

Switching between 6 characters might be kinda tedious if not done correctly.

I remember hearing that wayforward wanted to do one but nothing happens with that

Yep, times have changed.
Wow, really? As I said, times were different back then.
Yeah, but because of that, it feels like they should just combine G & PG into a single rating if they’re basically the same thing now.
In the ’70s “Planet of the Apes” was “G,” and it was kinda violent for back then.
You’re welcome.

Probably more money than they wanted to spend, and they had dangerous ideas that didn’t belong in a profitable girl’s game.
Wayforward wanted to make an official MLP:FiM game?! How could Hasbro be that dense to turn that offer down?!
Yeah… It’s really random to hear about MLP not getting many official games before and nowadays.
