True, and “Ice Bear” never even smiles like that. Also, Gumball, and Dipper Pine’s mouths are too big, and usually don’t look like that either.

I’m not a huge fan of the modern common “beanmouth” cartoon style either, but even I can admit some beanmouth shows are good, or can still look good with it. Like “Gravity Falls.”

The Usual Suspects got up on their hind legs and shrieked about it just like they did with Pony Life, but there are fewer of those losers around every year so the tiny little outrage wasn’t nearly as loud this time.
Yes people did call it g5’s pony life. I mean I guess it technically serves the same purpose as just being a little filler show.
But I think a lot of the issues people have
with pony life aint really here. As it’s technically in continuity the characters are more in character To the make your mark version( Although izzy does feel more like pinkie pie in tyt)

Think I made this comparison before but was gumball it would be easier to make a list of art styles it did not use. Gravity Falls was full of crazy stuff.
That’s another issue with this “CalArts” thing even the shows that do it were never this simple And you can apply the same logic to others Styles and animation studios
and gumball’s show is all in different styles and formats.
i believe his method was never do the same face twice Which got mixed results on his facial expressions and took forever to finish.
Not to say he stuff was bad But I think even he should have known it was not for everyone

Yeah, he had issues… I still love “Ren & Stimpy,” and respect John’s contributions to animation, but I don’t respect him as a person.
Even before he was outted as a perv’, he still was a bad animation critic, as he hated everything that came after the 1960s. (And ironically, some 1960s cartoons looked like the styles he hates.)

Even ignoring what he did it was pretty much because he wanted people to take inspiration from his work and not Disney.
His method was definitely a approach with caution
Indeed,CalArts is being wrongfully blamed for the style. Which annoys me. If it wasn’t for the CalArts school, frankly, we wouldn’t have “Friendship is Magic,” (seeing as Lauren Faust is a CalArts student) the brony fandom, this site, and such.
(Also, taking John’s crimes into account, I’m not sure we should use any animation insult terms he made up.)
So even “beanmouth” can be done right.

I have seen people pull the who cares card when People point out the name is not accurate but the problem is it causes the school to get blamed for it.
I have also seen people say that CalArts made it way to 3d with pixar’s turning red Which I feel looks more like wallace and gromit

Those shows were pretty good regardless. Maybe they left them off, because of how well received they were.
In fact, so was Lauren Faust.
So I still say ’CalArts” is a very innacurate term for the controversial modern Flash/thick-line/Bean-mouth style.
