Monster how? She ran a highly successful school, and her only “fault” was not wanting to lose to another school that literally cheated using supernatural means. As far as she knew magic was safe seeing a bunch of kids were using it without issues. Above pic really should have Midnight in it, she messed with power she knew nothing about (instead of, you know, just asking) and nearly destroyed world with meddling…

She has no knowledge about the danger. She is not a good people, but not evil or bad. She is just a pushy principal who wanted quickly “success”. She only sees that the other side uses magic in the friendship games. Rainbow dash flies and such.
True, Twilight has no knowledge neither until she gets the power. She is emotionally neutral but she don’t thinks about people just merges the two worlds with magic.
She peer pressured and threatened Twilight into unleashing the Equestrian magic that risked their world and tore open the space-time continuum all so she could win a stupid sports game. Twilight does get the flashy monster girl appearance, but the real monster is Cinch.
She does nothing that a villain would do. There is only one villain in that movie, Twilight Sparkle…
I consider Principal Cinch to be Friendship Games’ true villain.
