Technically speaking, you and genervt are both correct.
From separate standpoints.
The writers never gave her character a real chance at redemption, which honestly kinda sucks, considering they reformed Gilda of all characters, who had a very similar attitude to Lightning Dust in a lot of ways.
Obviously, from a show standpoint though, she blew both chances.
But the writers really had it in for her from the beginning.
Considering the original ending to her Season 3 Episode was cut entirely.
She was supposed to get demoted and given a second chance.
Instead they changed it and banned her indefinitely.
And to be fair, considering villains have also tried to kill the Mane 6, there’s argument for her to get a fair shot at redemption.
But she never really got one cause I guess they figured “we need at least one bitch who is just a bitch for eternity.”
She was far from the most hated side character.
People hated Garble way more than Lightning Dust, and despite him trying to kill stuff on multiple occasions, he was given redemption.
