Well, the toy design is different than the EQG minis, plus they added a few characters, notably Celestia and Luna for the first time, at the same time they revealed that Celestia and Luna were in PonyLife and are getting their own PL toys.  
It looks like the EQG toys are tied to Ponylife, and given that Hasbro’s strategy for marketing toys is to use TV, webseries, and films, it is likely EQG is getting a new series. Personal opinion, hopefully in the first half of 2020.

Mmhmm. The new characters in the doll line certainly suggests a new EQG something is coming. They aren’t just the old minis back from like, 2015.

Well, Rainbow Roadtrip was an entirely new crew, but they kept the voice actors. Same with Summertime Shorts. Having done my research, it really isnt as simple as they use new everything.  
Heck, turns out, outside our fandom, everyone thinks the leaks about G5 aren’t even reliable.
