Still, you can’t help but wonder how long it would have lasted if it had been allowed to continue until it was no longer sustainable (instead of arbitrarily ending where it ended).
I can understand why Disney has it extended. They already have enough problems with people mistaking random animation for Disney, can you imagine the PR nightmare if anyone could release a Mickey Mouse movie?

Which is a real shame. Copyright should end promptly at the physical death of the author (unless the work was published less than 20 years before death)

I’m thinking more and more that I should treat the epilogue just like Ep. 100: a nod to the fans that arguably takes place outside of the regular continuity of the show. As much as it’s supposed to be a profound closing the loop moment, it feels unearned because the main characters also happened to be the arbitrarily-designated heroes. The more I type, the less I hate the finale and the more I realize my disappointment is almost exclusively aimed at everything leading up to the finale.

Harry Potter was the only cinematic time skip that worked because it was letting the actors be closer to their actual age instead of pretending to be teenagers when they’re 26. The lesson here is that time skips are a lazy way to close a series.
Animated shows with epilogues don’t tend to have good character designs for the older version of the cast. Live action actually isn’t even much better with the prosthetics and makeup to make the actors look older often ending up being cheesy.

I don’t know I’d say sone of the ponies still look cute. I am wondering how old twilights parents must have been because they didn’t have cross feet under their eyes when twilight and shing armor were full grown and pinkie just has the one philly.
I still can’t get over how weird Spikes adult self looks. How long does it take for a dragon to be fill sized anyway? His fake dad was an adult and he wasn’t that big at all. Do dragons only become giants when they’re greedy, is that how that works because if so then his fake dad should be a lot bigger.
