Then yes. The first step to reformation is the bad guy realizing they have a problem. You can’t force reformation on someone.

Making Cozy a child villain was a bad writing choice. Not doing anything regarding her background was lazy. The writers wanted to have their cake and eat it too, with the end result being a ball of directionless evil stuck in a filly’s body who gets the next best thing to execution because anything more would take effort.

That she could fake understanding friendship and had a warped view of it hardly disqualifies her. As for the others, it’s all about understanding them as people better to see what angle they would be willing to listen to the lessons from.
 
The show(and other stuff) occasionally taught me that such work was doable and was its own reward.
 
But hey, I understand, it’s hard to be an upstanding and consistent paragon.

In that case, you don’t need to redeem them. Just punish them by having them go through friendship school.

In my personal opinion, a forced redemption is the worst redemption. And for these three? A forced redemption is the only way they could have been redeemed within the finale.

Who asked for Garble or Ahuizotl to be reformed? Who really cares enough for them? With the trio, at least there was enough character development to hint at some interesting writing as to how they could be reformed. Would everyone like it? Honestly, I wouldn’t think so. But it would be understandable as to why the characters would choose to do it. Instead, the writers decided to do a 180 and not think about what they just did.

I personally was always pro-redemption, even as far back as Starlight. I personally haven’t met someone who flip flopped like how you claim though I know those people exists.

I love how fandom compalin everyone get reformed and it’s bad.  
They don’t reform villan now and everyone is like. How could they deny them freidnship… like make up your mind….

Cozy Glow looked scared since it was the first time being blasted with the rainbow laser and looking super confused at the fact that her 2 accomplices were as defeated and powerless as her, maybe she actually was interested in redemption when she realized she’s getting petrified? (not that she deserves redemption but still) Tirek surely knew this was coming, and knew all along something like this would happen if he would be defeated. (still not deserving of redemption especially he saw this outcome before and should have known better.) Chrysalis? She was ready to murder a bitch until the last second. (which makes her the most irredeemable out of the 3.)

And there’s no such thing as a pill to make someone feel empathy. Attempted psychiatric treatments or something else of the sort has a tendency to just make psychopaths better manipulators, because they don’t magically feel remorse just because you’re trying to make that happen, but they could learn to fool you into thinking they’re contrite.
 
Cozy Glow also was a good student at Twilight’s school. The only test she was shown failing was one that she’d intentionally failed, so it’s absolutely not a matter of “she just doesn’t understand what the true meaning of friendship is because she’s never experienced it.” Cozy Glow had the trust of all of the Mane Six, she was an assistant Twilight liked. She’d have been in a position where she was sitting through say, Applejack talking about Honesty, pass any tests related to it, and then turn around and lie through her teeth, because empathy is incomprehensible to her. It wasn’t a matter of loneliness either, because the other students liked her too.

Also, this isn’t to anyone specifically, but I want to shut down the “Cozy is too young to know what she did was bad” argument once and for all. Cozy repeatedly showed that she knew EXACTLY what she was doing. She actually outsmarted Twilight and friends in the Season 8 finale and refused friendship even when faced down by the Mane 6, the princesses of Equestria, and the royal guard. During the villain song “Better Way to be Bad”, she mentioned “crushing her enemies to dust, and laughing as they all screamed”. In the finale, when ‘Grogar’ asks why they didn’t tell him they had the bell, Cozy responds with “Because we’re villains! Duh!” She also makes comments about destroying the mane 6 to their faces. She shows absolutely no remorse for her actions whatsoever, those actions being attempted murder and treason. In fact, thinking about how she’s acted, the only conclusion I can come up with is that she’s a literal definition of a psychopath.
